by Diane Brown As ladies we are always thinking about the perfect baby gift or wedding gift for friends. Gifts, however, are usually to be had only on such special occasions. God has a gift that He gives us everyday, even many times during the day this amazing gift is His grace. The Scofield Bible defines grace as Òthe method of divine dealing in salvation and in the believerÕs life and service.Ó The hymn writer of Amazing Grace so elegantly expands upon the definition and the message of the hymn reminds us that GodÕ grace is all we need for each situation in our lives from our birth into GodÕs family until He takes us home to glory. First, He says His gift of grace is sufficient for salvation. ÒFor by grace are ye savedÓ (Eph. 2:8a). Amazing grace! How sweet the sound, That saved a wretch like me! Second, His gift of grace is sufficient for the challenges of life-long service. GodÕs Word says, Ò. . . let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fearÓ (II Cor. 12:9a). Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; Finally, His gift of grace is sufficient as we depart this earthly realm and enter glory. God gives us Ò. . . good hope through graceÓ (II Thess. 2:17). ÉAnd grace will lead me home. You can be assured that God will pour out the perfect measure of His grace that you will need as you serve Him this day and in all the days ahead. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work (II Cor. 9:8). |
