Tracing the Hand of God
by Susan Brinley
. . . for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye
have need of all these things ( Matt. 6:32b).
Often I find myself seeking a sense of comfort,
assurance and security from the circumstances and
those around me. As women, we long for a measure of
control and order, love among those whom we love,
solutions to our problems, and hope for our future
needs. When we have these things, we may feel
comfortable, happy, and even rich. But that isnŐt
every day, is it? Sometimes we forget what God has
faithfully done maybe I need a list.
IŐve seen topical Scripture verse lists others have
compiled and curiously looked over their choices.
ŇAha!Ó I say in recognition as I see familiar verses
that have encouraged my heart, too. Yet, as
intriguing as anotherŐs list may be, itŐs not mine, a
personal list revealing GodŐs hand in my life. I find
I need my own true list.
Do you have a personal list of comfort and assurance
from the Word: A ready reference, proof of His hand
tracing your lifeŐs path, reflecting GodŐs care; a
powerful, first hand accounting of His faithfulness
here and now? Such a list is a wonderful thing, not
only personally, but for sharing with children,
grandchildren, neighbors and friends. I have begun my
list. Within these verses lay the seeds for stories
of joy and sorrow, encouragement, provision, promises
kept and promises yet hoped for, with the assurance of
GodŐs will and faithful leading in all things.
And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy
God led thee. . . .
That He might make thee know that man doth not live by
bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of
the mouth of the LORD. . . (Deut. 8:2-3). |
