Waiting on the Lord
by Lisa Crawford, GFA Missions
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him . . . (Ps. 37:7 a)
Waiting on the Lord is not easy at least not for me. Yet learning to wait on God must be important, for it seems I find myself constantly in the process of learning this lesson,.
God wants us to wait patiently for Him (Ps. 37:7). This is not easy, especially when we are praying about something urgent or about something close to our hearts. Much of the time, I would rather wait impatiently with anxiety and fretting, but God asks us to rest in Him and wait with a patient spirit.
My nephew was recently killed in a heartbreaking accident. As I consider all that happened, I am sure that, before that happened, JonathanÕs parents must have found it difficult to wait on God to work in his heart for salvation. But in GodÕs time and way, through an amazing set of circumstances that only God could arrange, God brought Jonathan to himself only three days before the accident that took his life.
We should wait not only patiently, but also cheerfully. Psalm 27:14 encourages us to be of good courage while we wait. Thanking God before we see an answer and waiting with a praise-filled spirit shows God that we trust Him no matter what.
IÕm thankful God is patient with me while I learn to wait patiently and cheerfully on Him.
