Daily Praise
by Lisa Crawford

I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth (Ps.34:1).
Working in the front office of a busy doctorÕs office, I spend much of my day greeting patients. Some of our patients come for well visits, while others are quite sick, so the answer I receive from ÒHow are you?Ó varies greatly! One manÕs response often comes to mind as I go through the routine of each day. When asked how he is, he answers with a smile, Òmuch better then I deserve!Ó His grateful attitude triggers guilt in my heart as I consider how often I complain instead of praising God.
It is so easy to focus on the trials of life instead of recognizing that God is abundantly kind to us, far beyond what we deserve. If we recognize the loving sovereignty of our Lord, we will spend more time praising God, even in trying times.
Psalms 71:8 says ÒMy mouth is filled with your praise and with your glory all day long.Ó If our mouths are filled with GodÕs praise, there will be little room left for complaining.
Because of our sinful hearts, it will always be easier to utter complaints rather than to give praise But with God as our refuge and His Word our treasure, we have all we need to be thankful at all times.
