by Carol Custer Recently as I thought about putting up decorations and buying gifts and preparing for the Christmas Holidays, my mind began to think on what really matters at this time of year. All of the ads in the paper say, Òbuy this and your child will be happy,Ó or buy this and your husband will love you for it,Ó or Òbuy this and impress your boss.Ó Gift giving is nice, pleasant, even cheerful and mysterious. There is nothing wrong with it. Just keep in mind that Christmas is not giving things but knowing Christ as your Saviour and making Him first in your life every day, including the Christmas time. During these busy days, let us desire to please Christ in our preparations for the Christmas celebration. The greatest gift of all is the Gift of GodÕs Only Son to us that we might receive the gift of salvation. May we rejoice as we give to our families and friends. May we show them the gift of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23b). |
