Thanks for visiting our website! I thank the Lord for the privilege of pastoring and worshiping with a group of forgiven sinners who assemble as Trinity Bible Church. God is so good! Please let me explain...

“Live and Let Live”

That’s what my grandmother said every time she found a spider in our house and released it outside. And that describes my previous view of life. Everyone should be free to do whatever he wants as long as he doesn’t hurt anyone else.

Mom Gets Religion.

My mom attended a Bible study, and I knew that something in her had changed. Yet when she tried to talk to me about God I didn’t listen. Why should I? Although I was raised in church, was an altar boy, and went to Catholic school for twelve years, being “religious” wasn’t for me. She read her Bible. I partied and rode my motorcycle.

He’s Really Going to College?

When I went to college many people were surprised. But I had two goals: to help people and to make a lot of money. I majored in psychology at Ohio State with the hope of becoming a clinical psychologist. I studied hard all day—and partied most nights.

How About Coming to My Bible Study?

Kevin invited me to his dorm Bible study. One day the leader asked if we could talk. He opened the Bible and showed me that I was a sinner (Rom 3:23). He then showed me that because of my sin I deserved hell (Rom 6:23). I would go to hell forever unless I called on the Lord Jesus Christ and asked Him to forgive me (Rom 10:13). That Thursday night (October, 1980) in a crowded dormitory lobby I knelt down and called on the Lord, repenting of my sin and asking Him to save me. That night I was born again (John 3:3) and became a child of God (John 1:12)!

What Happened to Mazak?

When I told people what happened they laughed or rolled their eyes. But God was working in my life through a Bible study and a Gospel preaching church. I witnessed to my friends, including my girlfriend, who soon accepted Christ as well as my proposal to marry her! After I finished my psychology degree in 1983 Nancy and I married and moved to South Carolina to begin seminary at Bob Jones University. As I completed the Master of Divinity degree I saw how God through His Word continued to change my life. So I abandoned my dream of being a psychologist and enrolled in the New Testament doctoral program in 1986. Nancy and I began worshipping with Trinity Bible Church and worked with the teens. I was ordained at TBC and became the assistant pastor, then the associate pastor, and now (2009) the pastor. I also teach and oversee the biblical counseling programs at BJU.

So Why Didn’t You Become a Psychologist?

I was aware of what therapists do--by this time I had a masters degree in counseling from Clemson. But God changed my life apart from therapy. As I studied Scripture I found that the Bible equips believers to do what they need to do (2 Tim 3:16). At salvation a person is given everything necessary for salvation and sanctification (2 Pet 1:3). Believers really are complete in Christ (Col 2:10). God’s comprehensive Word has what it takes to change us (Ps 19:7). As a biblical counselor I now show people what God says about who they are and how He wants to change them into the image of His Son (Rom 8:29). As a professor I teach students how to counsel biblically. As a pastor I have the joy of proclaiming the good news—that a loving Father sent His only Son to give us life (I Jn 4:9-10). I love worshipping with our church family as we give thanks to the One who rescued us from darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of His beloved Son (Col 1:13). In worshipping the incomparable Christ we find the reason for our existence—glorifying the One who made us (Col 1:16).

”Is It Really That Simple?”

I never said that it was easy. But yes, it’s really that simple. I hope that you’ve experienced new life in Jesus Christ. You will never know true peace until you do (Is 26:3-4)—not in this world or the next (John 3:36). If you don’t believe me, grab a Bible and look up each of the verses I’ve mentioned.

Please contact us if we can be of help.

Blessings!
